This tiny, family-run production shows a tremendous talent at growing grapes and making wines of great substance and sophistication. It aims for a bright, restrained and complex style, which it achieves here with aplomb. Black cherry, mint and a tease of smoky oak accent a fleshy, lengthy texture and body that shines in acidity.Sold Out
Fragrant aromas of plum and black cherry find perfect balance with hints of vanilla, cola, cloves and cocoa dust. Right on the heels of all that aromatic intensity are interwoven layers of blackberry, boysenberry, black currant, dark plums and mocha. This wine is full bodied with supple tannins and a long, generous finish.Sold Out
“Dum Spiro Spero” – while I breath I hope – is the Snowden family motto which has appeared on every label and every cork since we began producing our own wines 30 years ago. For our 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, we are using it to mark a unique cuvée from a unique growing year, when winemaker Diana Snowden Seysses combined the Cabernet Sauvignon which would normally have gone into our Brothers and Los Ricos vineyard designates with Cabernet Franc from our Melchior Kemper block. Diana loved the small clusters and small berries of 2020, which resulted in “spectacular concentration. The bouquet is lifted with violets and beeswax. Plum, black cherry, and Bramble lie beneath. On the palate, the wine boasts layers of juicy dark fruit – it is dense and hedonistic.” Fermented with wild, native yeasts, aged 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% new, and bottled unfined in April, 2022. Due to the fires of 2020, it is the only red wine we will be releasing under the Snowden label from the vintage. 11,220 bottles were producedSold Out
Smells of vanilla, white flowers and lemon pith. Flavours of vanilla and pastry cream mix with lemon and grapefruit notes. Very much in the style of white bordeaux and very competently done.

The crop was small in 2021, with yields off by almost 50%, fewer, smaller clusters and little berries -- but the unusually high skin-to-juice ratio gave us bold with a classic finish. Winemaker Diana Seysses remarks on the density of the '21 Ranch Cabernet, with aromas of crushed black cherries, brambles and plum set off by the velvet tannins and acid structure which so typical of our site. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, the wine was fermented by wild, native yeasts, aged 19 months in French oak barrels and bottled in the spring of 2023. 9,450 bottles were produced.$63.00

Monks’ Reserve Ale pours a deep mahogany with a frothy and long-lasting tan head. It presents rich aromas of caramel, plums, dark cherries, dates, brown sugar, dark bread and a faint smokiness. The taste largely follows the nose with an elegant and pronounced maltiness dancing a playful tango: dark fruits, apple, molasses and candied sugar. A welcome and restrained bitterness prevents this Quad from being cloyingly sweet. Spicy phenols and a reappearance of an earthy smokiness also serve as an excellent counterpoint the fruity esters that dominate the initial tasting impression. Medium to full mouthfeel and perhaps slightly lighter than comparable brews such as Chimay Grande Reserve. It finishes with a lingering, boozy warmth, pleasantly appropriate for a high gravity 10 percent ABV ale.
