Each lot of wine was fermented naturally using native, wild yeast, and the grapes were all crushed by foot so as to not break the stems left in the fermenting must. The finished wine is bright and flavorful, with a fascinating combination of mineral and earthiness. The Carignan fruit is stylish, incorporating elements of wild cherry, plum and black fig, while the Grenache and Mourvèdre add exotic aromas of wild herbs and lavender. $32.00At Terre Rouge, we specialize in wines made from Rhône Valley varietals. For this wine we were inspired by the wines that originate a bit further South along the coastal Mediterranean where vineyards grow alongside the garrigue, French for the local chaparral. Our vines grow in a similar environment, surrounded by manzanita, pine, toyon, yerba santa, and chamise. This is a blend of two-thirds Syrah and one-third Cabernet Sauvignon that is complex and savory, while still being accessible now. It is modestly priced and eminently quaffable.
