Forward, seductive and plush, this opens with a bouquet of blackberry jam, black tea, mint and boysenberry jam. This leads to ripe flavors of black cherry, eucalyptus, red raspberry and coffee grounds.
The wine starts out with a deep ruby color. On the nose, the wine is full of cherry and blackberry fruits, which continue on the palate. What sets this Shiraz apart is the intensity of this ripe fruit, which is just as intense on the finish as when the wine first hits your tongue. The finish has a mineral-graphite edge that balances the fruit nicely. In all, it drinks far, far, above its price point.
Oak spiciness lights up the bouquet and flavors of this full-bodied firmly tannic wine. It's not as heavy in alcohol as some, but is very rich in flavors of black plums and blackberries, black pepper and light oak char, and has a good, grippy texture.
The Les Voisins Syrah is a shining example of a fantastic vintage in Yorkville Highlands. With a gorgeous deep purple color, this wine pleases on many levels. With lovely aromas of violets, black currant and white pepper, the flavors of ripe wild blackberries, figs and mocha combine for a deliciously satisfying wine. The palate is rich with black fruits, spice and cedar notes, backed by plush tannins
Based on a blend of Alder Springs Grenache & Castelli-Knight Ranch Grenache, this wild and exotic blend really screams southern Rhone. We co-fermented a bit of Syrah with the Castelli Grenache so there is a dark spicy core, but really this wine is all about the wild side of Grenache.
Tasting Note: Wild aromas of white flowers, game, forest floor and tiny red berries. The palate is medium-full and supple with clean berry fruit and an exotic wildness to this classic blend, which adds character and an added dimension of earthy complexity.

Deep purple-ruby color with intensely perfumed aromatics: framboise, kirsch, black cherry, spice, dark chocolate, and minerals. Ripe lush tannins from the Grenache and Syrah and some slightly firmer tannins from the Cabernet Sauvignon interplay beautifully with the vibrant acidity and higher fruit expression. The palate is rich and expansive with dominant notes of framboise, kirsch, cassis jam, garrigue, and licorice. There are also secondary notes of graphite, bacon fat, and espresso. The finish is very long with notes of kirsch, scorched earth, and white pepper.
QED Convergence is ripe and structured, with supple tannins and racy acidity. The complex bouquet consists of blackberry, kirsch, bacon fat, white pepper, cured meats, and grilled herbs. Nuances of gravel, and tar can also be noted. The palate is beautifully layered and complex: blackberry, huckleberry, kirsch dominate but notes of bacon fat, honeysuckle, truffle mushroom, Asian spices, and grilled herbs support. The racy acidity and substantial yet refined tannins provide a nice counterpoint to the fruit vibrancy. The very long finish echoes tones of kirsch, bacon fat, cured meats and white pepper.
Full of freshness and bright youthful fruits. Aromatic plum and raspberries with freshness and balance, the wine has a round central core of red fruit that gives way to a complex mid-palate full of cassis, dark cherry, spice and vanilla. While offering immense pleasure in its youth, the Woodcutter’s - Shiraz will certainly develop into an impressive wine with a few more years in the cellar. A fantastic introduction to the Torbreck range.
Bright and lively notes aromatic notes of blackcurrant and mulberry fruit follows through to the palate where they are joined by some classic black pepper spice and dark chocolate. The palate shows some early mouth-filling roundness before a subtle lattice tannin frame provides genuine structure, balance and control as the wine moves through the mouth.
Full wild-blackberry aromas, plus some meaty character welcome you to the Rhone kingdom of syrah. Thanks to the open fruit, moderate tannin structure and creamy texture on the mid-palate, this is already a very appealing Crozes-Hermitage. Only at the finish are the tannins a bit more obvious, but the mineral freshness there is more forthright. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Pax's Syrah Griffin's Lair Vineyard is powerful and explosive in the glass, conveying a compelling sense of vertical energy. Once & Future wine style: small open-topped redwood fermentors, full destemming, no berry sorting, indigenous yeast, hand punch down of the cap, indigenous malolactic fermentation, and aging in French oak on the yeast with variable amounts of new barrels, depending on the character of the wine. The wines were bottled with no fining or filtration. In short, this is very simple, traditional winemaking that relies on the unique aspects of the vineyard to define the flavor, nature, and quality of the wine. The goal here is not to make a good-flavored beverage, though these wines taste very good; it is to give the drinker a sense of the vintage and place that formed the flavors in these wines. These 2019 wines are bright and juicy on the palate with a strong spine of acid and tannin.
Rim Rock is ever-constant in its expression of violets – a character of Syrah that is very elusive, and only reveals itself when planted in a great terroir. These delicate floral aromas coalesce with notes of iodine, white pepper and wild blueberry. The wine is restrained but speaks volumes in its subltely––and ultimately concludes with a persistent finish of dusty tannins.

Cep Syrah is good, and often, very good. It features hints of blackberry and pomegranate with lavender top notes complicated by aromas of white pepper, grilled meat, herbs, and iron.
