In 1842, at our brewery in Plzeň, brewer Josef Groll introduced the world to the first golden ‘pilsner’ lager, and changed beer forever. His invention soon became the most popular style of beer on the planet. A thick head of dense, wet foam seals in the freshness, protects our delicate flavours from oxygen and creates the perfect balance in our beer, so every sip tastes perfect.

Meyer lemons and black “forbidden” rice give this dark brown (not quite black) pilsner its color and character, which is quite a bit milder than you might expect. The rice component is instantly evident on the tongue, which dials down the cracker crisp maltiness that makes a pilsner a pilsner. Meanwhile, there’s a healthy squeeze of citrus here, though it’s not immediately evident as Meyer lemon, percolating on the finish. The whole experience is so mild that it’s hard to find much fault with it, or much to thrill the drinker. And either way, the bold color does mess considerably with one’s expectations. 4% abv.$14.00

Monks’ Reserve Ale pours a deep mahogany with a frothy and long-lasting tan head. It presents rich aromas of caramel, plums, dark cherries, dates, brown sugar, dark bread and a faint smokiness. The taste largely follows the nose with an elegant and pronounced maltiness dancing a playful tango: dark fruits, apple, molasses and candied sugar. A welcome and restrained bitterness prevents this Quad from being cloyingly sweet. Spicy phenols and a reappearance of an earthy smokiness also serve as an excellent counterpoint the fruity esters that dominate the initial tasting impression. Medium to full mouthfeel and perhaps slightly lighter than comparable brews such as Chimay Grande Reserve. It finishes with a lingering, boozy warmth, pleasantly appropriate for a high gravity 10 percent ABV ale.$13.00
The Parkview Porter is a full-bodied malt bomb with rich chocolate and vanilla flavors from beginning to end. While this Porter is hosting a multitude of malt profiles for roasty flavor, it is also joined by the addition of vanilla bean to give this big beer a velvety, sweet finish.
