Stoller Dundee Hills Chardonnay is a mix of all the Chardonnay clones on our property. Whole cluster pressed to mitigate phenolics, delicate aromatics leap out of the glass. Showing notes of ripe pear, candied lemon, and jasmine on the nose, the palate is vibrant yet succulent. Flavors of mandarin orange, baked apple, and ginger along with hints of wet stone fill the front and mid-palate. The initial vibrancy winds down to a long soft finish.

"Camille" is a pretty, very pale pink-orange color with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, rose, and citrus, along with a hint of stone fruits. The palate is light and elegant, showcasing subtle berry fruits, a hint of citrus and stone, and nice density and length. This is a light and lovely rosé for year-round enjoyment, whether sipped alone or paired with grilled fish, white meats, salade Niçoise, and mild cheeses—and it's a fabulous value! Domaine Turenne, northeast of Bandol in Provence, produces this lovely rosé from 40% Cinsault, 50% Grenache, and 10% Syrah, all certified organic. The terroir consists of a unique bed of limestone and sandstone debris with small stones called "Gavroches," which bring a pronounced minerality and good drainage to the vines. In 1810, Madame Clicquot invented the first Vintage Champagne, in 2008 Veuve Clicquot declared the 65th vintage of the Maison.
As with every Veuve Clicquot champagne, Pinot Noir dominates (61%) and provides the structure that is so typically Veuve Clicquot, followed by Chardonnay (34%) that adds finesse and elegance essential in a perfectly balanced wine, and then Meunier (5%) that rounds out the blend. To complete the cuvée, 14% Bouzy red Pinot Noir red wine is added. New to Vintage Rosé 2008 is that 5% of the wines were produced and aged in wooden casks (foudres) from forests in Central France, and this addition increases the champagne’s strength and aromatic richness. The cask-aged wines act as spices to the blend, bringing very lightly woody, vanilla and toasted aromas.

Gavoty’s “Grand Classique” combines Grenache and Cinsault in roughly equal proportions, with Carignan playing a minor role which varies based on the vintage’s character. Rather than being pressed immediately after harvest by rote as many Provence rosés are, “Grand Classique”—as well as “Clarendon” below—macerates for several hours before pressing, and the saignée and first-press juice are vinified separately. This allows Roselyn the flexibility to blend the more succulent and tender saignée with the more angular and architectural press juice in a manner to achieve the precise textural qualities she seeks in her wines. “Grand Classique” displays an uncanny equilibrium, with racy acidity wed to gleaming fruits that are just the right amount of vinous, all buttressed by an elegant, mouthwatering texture that speaks both to domaine’s healthy fruit and to Roselyn’s consummate blending skills.
