The Pinot Noir fruit for this wine is grown in some of the finest regions within the diverse North Coast appellation. The Beckstoffer Vineyard in the Carneros Napa region was tapped for 45% of the fruit going into the blend.
An additional 24% of the blend comes from the Pauli Ranch in southern Mendocino County which lends pretty floral aromas and really softens the overall wine.
This Pinot Noir is a true, ruby red in the glass with vibrant aromas of strawberry, cranberry, rose petal, and brewed black tea. The palate is fresh with loads of red fruit, mushroom, soy and pomegranate flavors. The wine is distinctively coastal in style with cooler climate characteristics including complex flavors of forest floor and spice and with bright acidity that heighten the texture and length.

WineNow comprised of 4 vineyards here in the YC AVA – where Big Table Farm resides – each brings a slightly different element to create a wine with the power the area is known for, but also the finesse that makes Pinot noir so beautiful. I visit these sites as often as all the others, but their proximity makes it just a little bit easier. Three are early ripening (warmer) and the fourth is one of the last to be picked.
tasting notes -
This wine shows heady aromas of plum, raspberry preserve, stewed fruit and wet earth. Palate has liqueur qualities, juicy dark blue fruits, leather and black cherry. Full ripe tannins on the finish add unexpected but well received structure on the palate to hold all the dark fruit.

A 2019 with an old soul - this wine is heady, earthy and elegant. A subtle attack of dried rose and baked strawberry aromatics on the nose is followed by warm baking spices and Turkish tobacco. The palate adds complex layers of Aztec cacao, black tea leaves and ripe Bing cherries. Vivid impressions of crushed stones and forest floor give the wine footing and definition to its sense of place. Velvety tannins caress a mouthwatering, bright and lifted finish. The Pelos Sandberg is mesmerizing now and will continue to evolve and mature for years to come.

It is important to me to be present during the growing season to understand what and how the conditions the grapes have been created in. I spent a great deal of time visiting each site as the grapes ripen to access and evaluate what will eventually come into the winery and decide when to pick, the most important decision I make. For this reason I choose vineyards that are close by. Sunnyside is my furthest flung, just south of Salem and takes me about 45 minutes to get there. Lucy and Tom’s fruit and resulting wine is so compelling that the extra time to get there is well worth it. Elegant and yet still muscular, this vineyard produces amazing wine year in and year out.
tasting notes -
This wine offers a full rich nose, cinnamon, cedar and new leather. Great density on the palate, rich but with a focused palate as the acid holds this wine in perfect tension. Flavors are explosive, fresh. The structure here is based more on its acidity than tannins, though the tannins are there they just melt on your tongue. This wine has great length to accompany its generosity.

Barrel fermented in French oak, mostly used but some new. Fermented with whatever yeast blows in the door, minimal sulphur added and the wine basically goes from barrels to bottle with only a short stay (2-3 days) in a blending tank. Filtration, fining and other nonesuch are completely left out of the program. Simplicity at its finest!
tasting notes -
This wine smells like warm apple pie and waxy white flowers. When you take your first sip there is an explosion of acidity that brings the pallet to life. Granny Smith apples are balanced with nuttiness and warm dough. The finish is bright and the acid lets you savor the apple, lemon and yeasty notes. This wine has a dry focused mouthwatering finish.
