Oddero is a seventh-generation winemaking family in the village of La Morra that's been making wine since the 18th century. This Barbera d'Alba is a perfect example of their winemaking style and it comes in at a fraction of the price of their Baroli bottlings. Coming from two plots of land in Castiglione Falletto and La Morra, these vines see south and southwest-facing vines that receive ample sunshine for ripening. Aging in used French oak casks of 50-60 hl rounds out this high-acidity grape varietal. Outstandingly fresh, with soft and ripe tannins, this Barbara shows fruit notes of blackberry, black plum, and cherry. Black pepper and licorice with a iron-like minerality enhance a palate with a long, extended finish.

80% Zinfandel and 20% Petite Sirah from the steepest part of the northeast facing slope of the section of the vineyard known as Tip Top. Picked at the same time and co-fermented in an open-top redwood fermenter with indigenous yeast, then aged in 30% new French oak barrels. Notes of red plums, black cherries, and black pepper with a touch of vanilla and juicy acidity from this elevated site.Sold Out
Once & Future wine style: small open-topped redwood fermentors, full destemming, no berry sorting, indigenous yeast, hand punch down of the cap, indigenous malolactic fermentation, and aging in French oak on the yeast with variable amounts of new barrels, depending on the character of the wine. The wines were bottled with no fining or filtration. In short, this is very simple, traditional winemaking that relies on the unique aspects of the vineyard to define the flavor, nature, and quality of the wine. The goal here is not to make a good-flavored beverage, though these wines taste very good; it is to give the drinker a sense of the vintage and place that formed the flavors in these wines. These 2019 wines are bright and juicy on the palate with a strong spine of acid and tannin.
