A pure, balanced and fresh Napa cabernet that is not just showing heady concentration and dark fruit. Here you get some violets, nimble flowers, redcurrants, graphite and fine spices. Better to give it a few years to deliver more complexitySold Out

Deep ruby color almost all the way to the rim. Initial aromas of cocoa, butterscotch, dark berry and evergreen. In pre-release tasting, tannins still had a firm grip on this wine, but with air, aromas soften and deepen, and more fruit and spice emerges—in contrast to the more immediately accessible 2014 wines. Decanting highly recommended. Mouthfeel is full, tannins fine-textured, but firm, giving the wine a softly chalky texture that will marry happily with steaks seasoned with rosemary and porcini, rack of lamb, or a savory, rib-sticking, polenta and short ribs.

A bottle of Hoopla Rosé solves that summertime dilemma when it’s too hot for red wine but a white would match neither the food nor the mood. Hoopla Rosé is blended from a spectrum of black grapes: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 6% Zinfandel, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petite Sirah, 2% Syrah. The dark color derives from the winemaking process of bleeding red wine tanks (aka “saignée) soon after the start of maceration in order to add concentration to those wines. The bled off pink juice is then fermented separately in stainless steel tanks and becomes a lovely rosé that can be served well-chilled with a range of fish or lightly grilled meats.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas and flavors of fresh strawberries, cherries and tangy cranberry finish with hints of grapefruit citrus and guava nectar.

A benchmark wine of Alsace, this is not far in style from an unoaked Chardonnay: sleek and crisp with ripe white fruit. Hugel is extremely protective of its long tradition and family character, determined not to fall prey to the trap of corporate wine. While the company owns the buildings and the machinery, the family members still own and farm the vineyards. The Hugel cellars also hold the oldest cask in the world still in use, called ‘the Sainte Caterine’. It was built in 1715!Sold Out
