VINEYARD NOTES | Handful of select sites throughout Santa Barbara County. 2021 was a pretty normal year down there with a couple early July heat spikes into the upper 70s low 80s. The marine influence and the wind buoy and temper the bright fruit flavors in the resulting wines. Harvest September 9th-25th.
WINEMAKER'S TASTING NOTES | 25% new French oak aging. Gorgeous ruby in color. Wow! Bright, floral nose of rose petal, dark cherry with vanilla. Background notes of orange pekoe tea and soy. Lush, full bodied mouthful of dark cherry, raspberry, and blood orange. Finishes way long with hints of plum and baker’s chocolate.

Illahe Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir begins with strawberry, tamarind, and blackberry then broaden along the palate to include chalk, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and earth. The acid supports a complete yet not overwhelming tannin balanced between skin and oak. The wine retains its velvet mouthfeel through a process of clarification by racking.
