Old World meets the New with a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot
Appearance: Deep ruby-purple at its core leading to a lighter rim and deeply stained tears.
Aroma: Elegant and assertive with notes of black cherries, ripe plums and raspberry preserves which are balanced by vanilla, star anise, cinnamon, toasted oak, saddle leather, and camphor.
Palate: Nearly full-bodied, ripe blackberries and black currants with elements of cedar and baking spices on entry, leading to a mid-palate featuring grippy tannins and notes of savory herbs and hints of dried rose petals. The lingering, fresh finish features sustained tannins with sweet raspberries, fresh mission figs, and dusty leather tones.
87.7% Merlot, 10.9% Syrah, 1.4% Zinfandel
Using Syrah and Zinfandel as blenders, adds a dark velvety feel to the lush berry flavor profile of the Merlot. Dense black fruit aromas are followed by blueberry and chocolate flavors, and supple tannins on the palate.
Characterized by a rich and powerful red fruit nose with notes of vanilla and toast, this elegant oak matured ruby red wine delights the palate with its overtones of licorice, delicate spice and red fruit, while its tannic content provides a long and firm finish.
This wine can be kept to age for 8 to 12 years.
Upstream from Bordeaux along the Garonne River lie the vineyards of Buzet, just north of Armagnac and southwest of Cahors. Buzet was recognized as an Appellation in 1973, as it’s clay limestone soils are ideal for Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Christophe tends to these vines with the utmost respect for biodiversity of the terroir and this cuvée is vinified without oak.
This Buzet Beauty is a 50/50 blend of Cabernet and Merlot that will remind you what it’s all about... Beaming nose of tiny berries and silky, velvety tannins. An absolute delight!
$19.00Neither glitzy nor flashy, but perfectly embodies the region’s rural soul. A signature blend of 50% Merlot, with equal parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, even at its modest price point it possesses much of the dark-fruited complexity that made Bordeaux famous in the first place but rendered in a brighter, more refreshing frame.
