The Pinot Noir fruit for this wine is grown in some of the finest regions within the diverse North Coast appellation. The Beckstoffer Vineyard in the Carneros Napa region was tapped for 45% of the fruit going into the blend.
An additional 24% of the blend comes from the Pauli Ranch in southern Mendocino County which lends pretty floral aromas and really softens the overall wine.

A cool spring delayed development of the grapes and we picked these grapes a couple of weeks later than usual. Overall, the harvest was mild and did not suffer any extreme weather leading to a very successful vintage. Above the town of Freestone, Hawk Hill Vineyard is perched on a steep, Goldridge soil covered slope just a few miles from the Pacific. Shaped by the coastal climate, this low yielding vineyard is farmed by the Yarak family. The two decades old vines work late into the fall to ripen and develop detailed flavors in its tiny berries.
The 2021 Pinot Noir Hawk Hill Vineyard, matured in around 20% new oak, has alluring scents of blueberry and cranberry sauce and opens with time in the glass to accents of Earl Grey tea leaves, mushrooms and juniper.
