Our inspiration for this bottle came out of the fires that have consumed the California wine region over the last few years. We lost all of our Napa Valley estate wines in the Glass Fire. This represents the unwavering resolve of the farmers, vintners and winemakers who continue to produce great wine in the face of adversity. It is not a Phoenix, but a Duck rising from the ashes. After all, we are Canard Vineyard. We dedicate this wine to all of those who have been dealt a hardship beyond their control and have emerged stronger. Each year we will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this wine to members of the hospitality industry who have been hit hard in recent years yet work tirelessly to quench out thirst and to feed our souls. 100% Cabernet Sauvigon from a single vineyard in Paso Robles, CA

The color is bright and deep. Purple edges with deep red middle. The nose is immediately fruit driven. Ripe raspberries, black cherry and plum. In other words it smells just like a Cabernet grape. In the mouth complexity is the key. Lush ripe cherries and ripe blue berries on the front of the tongue. The mid mouth is all about power and richness. Comprised of dark plum and chocolate. The finish has supple round tannins with a long elegant finish. Hmm hmm hmm Drink now or over the next 10 years if you can wait that long!

Upstream from Bordeaux along the Garonne River lie the vineyards of Buzet, just north of Armagnac and southwest of Cahors. Buzet was recognized as an Appellation in 1973, as it’s clay limestone soils are ideal for Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Christophe tends to these vines with the utmost respect for biodiversity of the terroir and this cuvée is vinified without oak.
This Buzet Beauty is a 50/50 blend of Cabernet and Merlot that will remind you what it’s all about... Beaming nose of tiny berries and silky, velvety tannins. An absolute delight!

Very dark, almost opaque violet-black color. Red cherry and red raspberry aromas segue into juicy blackberry, fig, and plum flavors. Mocha, spice, and toasty oak further round out the profile, all within an elegant, smooth, and medium-bodied framework. The fully ripe tannins will continue to soften over time creating a silky texture to the finish.
