Caymus has a signature style that is a blend of dark purple and red in color, with rich fruit and ripe, velvety tannins – as approachable in youth as in maturity. Farmed from Cabernet grapes in eight of Napa’s 16 sub-appellations, with diversification enabling the Wagner family to make the best possible wine in a given year. This Cabernet offers layered, lush aromas and flavors, including cocoa, cassis and ripe dark berries.
The color is bright and deep. Purple edges with deep red middle. The nose is immediately fruit driven. Ripe raspberries, black cherry and plum. In other words it smells just like a Cabernet grape. In the mouth complexity is the key. Lush ripe cherries and ripe blue berries on the front of the tongue. The mid mouth is all about power and richness. Comprised of dark plum and chocolate. The finish has supple round tannins with a long elegant finish. Hmm hmm hmm Drink now or over the next 10 years if you can wait that long!
Aromas of black cherry, caramel sauce, dried herbs and crushed rocks lead into a palate shaped by strong yet relenting tannins. Flavors of oak and more dark cherry ride a silky mouthfeel.
Medium ruby-red, this wine opens with scents of currants and dried roses, grape pomace, and freshly tilled soil. The nose is nuanced with toasty oak imparting a subtle smoked meat character. Flavors of blueberries and blackberries mix with the warmth of vanilla and toasted bread. Silky tannins and striking smoothness. Mouthwatering, lengthy finish trails off with the taste of unsweetened chocolate and cassis.
Very dark, almost opaque violet-black color. Red cherry and red raspberry aromas segue into juicy blackberry, fig, and plum flavors. Mocha, spice, and toasty oak further round out the profile, all within an elegant, smooth, and medium-bodied framework. The fully ripe tannins will continue to soften over time creating a silky texture to the finish.
