In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

Monks’ Reserve Ale pours a deep mahogany with a frothy and long-lasting tan head. It presents rich aromas of caramel, plums, dark cherries, dates, brown sugar, dark bread and a faint smokiness. The taste largely follows the nose with an elegant and pronounced maltiness dancing a playful tango: dark fruits, apple, molasses and candied sugar. A welcome and restrained bitterness prevents this Quad from being cloyingly sweet. Spicy phenols and a reappearance of an earthy smokiness also serve as an excellent counterpoint the fruity esters that dominate the initial tasting impression. Medium to full mouthfeel and perhaps slightly lighter than comparable brews such as Chimay Grande Reserve. It finishes with a lingering, boozy warmth, pleasantly appropriate for a high gravity 10 percent ABV ale.

The recipe was inspired by the traditional refectory ales known as patersbier (“fathers’ beer” in Flemish) in Belgium. These sessionable beers are brewed by the monks for their dinner table and are typically only available at the monastery. Spencer is a full-bodied, golden-hued ale with fruity accents, a dry finish and light hop bitterness. The beer is unfiltered and unpasteurized, preserving live yeast that naturally carbonates the beer in the bottle and keg and contributes to the beer flavor and aroma.

Maimed in an accident that left him with a hunched back, Brother Joseph Zoettl worked in the St. Bernard Abbey power plant shoveling coal. In his spare time, Brother Joseph used found objects such as marbles and chunks of concrete and tile to build miniature shrines and buildings on the Abbey grounds. Over 40 years, he created 125 different models and replicas. Today, the Ave Maria Grotto covers three acres and is world-renowned as both a fun roadside attraction and an awe-inspiring collection of folk art. This aromatic super-hybrid sticky IPA is first and foremost a phenomenally delicious and drinkable beer, with the added bonus of an olfactory experience that mimics that of the legendary G13 cannabis strain. The IPA base brew has a great body, good head and nice amount of haze at a pleasurable 6% ABV. To work with the malt bill, the brewers added some of their dankest hops, Columbus and Simcoe, plus two dry hop additions. To achieve the aroma, our brewers found the perfect botanically-sourced, strain specific terpenes and married them with proprietary natural hemp-type flavor, both perfectly complementing the hops in the IPA.

Fugu, India Pale Ale, 6.5% - Inspired by summers on the CT coast, we set out for a superbly drinkable, yet abundantly flavorful IPA. Fugu is made for beach days, a perfect wooded New England hike, and catching just the right wave right after sunrise. Immensely aromatic and complexly hoppy for its crushable nature, Fugu combines a carefully selected combination of American hops (Citra, Cashmere & El Dorado). Flavors of earthy citrus, papaya, grapefruit, and a subtle note of watermelon all swirl on the pallet with a finishing pop of appropriate bitterness.
