or ExitSeeing old friends is one of our favorite parts of #PNV19! Our very first purchase at PNV in 2014 was 'The Bottle' for me...you know that one bottle that changes your life in wine? If it hasn't happened yet, keep drinking fine wine...and it will! 2012 J Davies Cabernet, which is owned by Schramsberg. Still my favorite all time bottle of Napa Cabernet.
Today we had lunch with Hugh Davies, owner of Davies Vineyards and Fred Zammataro, the COO of Schramsberg. Such great fun, some bubble and lots of laughs.
Some of the best wines in Napa Valley never really leave the valley...because they are so small in production they aren't distributed to fine bottle shops or restaurants.
Last year we bought Taplin Cellars wine in the PNV auction. They make about 200 cases of their estate cabernet. 200 cases!!! That's super small! Their vineyards have been in the family dating back to the 1860's when they grew mostly walnuts on the property!
Sylvia, Steven and Roger, their dog were such great hosts...we spent almost three hours there just walking the vineyards, telling stories and enjoying their wines...and figuring out how to get even a few bottles to Southern Napa customers!!!!
What a great time you must have on these trips!
