Dixie Beer and Dogs!
Saturday August 24, 2019
This event was inspired by our love of Dogs at Southern Napa! Jim and I have adopted 3 dogs thus far in our lives. All from local animal shelters. We never knew that a $50 donation would bring us years of joy, laughter and tears. BARC has been Southern Napa’s primary partner when it comes to fund raising. From our 99 Bottles of Beer on the Lawn, to selling treats that my mom makes every Christmas for her granddogs!
This particular Saturday was a culmination of events. Fundraiser for BARC, Dixie Brewing was reborn and NFL was just about to start. Specifically, the New Orleans Saints first pregame of the Season was that same evening.
What goes great with football? Hot DOGS!! Our menu that afternoon was
‘The Voodoo Dixie Dog’-Bratwurst cooked in Blackened Voodoo, sautéed green peppers and Vidalia onions
‘The Dog-rado Ta’quito’-All beef hotdog, refried black beans, wrapped in flour tortilla, topped with Pico de gallo, crema & cojita cheese
‘The Haute Dog’-Chicken & apple sausage dog, fontina cheese, house made creamy slaw, fresh red onion and dill
‘The Dog Dip’- 4 mini pigs in a blanket served with a spicy, homemade chili, cheese and onion dip.
Hard to say which hot ‘dog’ was the most popular because the real four leggeds stole the show. The Dixie beer was the perfect pairing to that afternoon.
Since the Benson family brought Dixie back to New Orleans they have made some serious movement into the craft beer scene. They have a new brewery they have opened and created some delicious new brews!
The possibilities of the hot dogs you can create, while you’re drinking Dixie beer, and the dogs you can adopt from a shelter are endless. Please consider making a donation or adopting your next pet from a shelter.
